SVG to stitches

Digitizing works from the vector outlines in your SVG, so edges come out exactly as drawn. A stroked path becomes a satin column of that path's own width; a filled shape gets underlay, angled fill rows and a sealed edge; narrow filled shapes — outlined lettering — are found and satined across the stroke. Export from Illustrator, Figma, Inkscape or Affinity with text converted to outlines.

PEC file viewer — free and online

Open a PEC embroidery file directly in your browser. Preview the needle path, check its physical size and review colour blocks without renaming the file or wrapping it in PES.

What is a PEC file?

PEC is a Brother stitch format. PES files also contain a PEC stitch block, but a standalone PEC file does not have all of a PES file's additional design metadata.

EmbroViewer reads the standalone stitch data and Brother palette references. Inspect the measured width and height before choosing a hoop; the preview cannot change your machine's limits.

How to open a PEC file online

  1. Scroll up and click Open files, or drag your .pec file anywhere onto the page.
  2. The design appears instantly. Zoom with the mouse wheel, drag to pan, press Space to play the sew-out.
  3. Choose your hoop from the hoop menu to check the fit, and open Stats for stitch count, size, colours and run time.
  4. Save a PNG preview or the thread list if you need to share it.

What you can check

Machines: Brother-compatible machines that list PEC in their supported formats. Check your exact model's manual.

Private: your file is never uploaded

EmbroViewer reads the file with code running in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no sign-up, and it works on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPad and Android.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open PEC without a PES file?

Yes. Select the standalone PEC file in this viewer; no PES wrapper is required.

Does renaming PEC to PES convert it?

No. File extensions describe different structures. Use an actual format exporter when conversion is needed.

Can I download the preview?

Yes. Open the file and use Save PNG or Save thread list. The original design remains on your device.
